Pros: Nice processor, 4gb of ram, looks sleek
Cons: ALPS pointing device (touchpad), No built in bluetooth
I bought this laptop about 3 months ago, and I am pleased with it. There are a few things you have to REALLY try to look past. The first being the ALPS touchpad. This has given my extreme issues since day 1. It is very jumpy, and yes I have updated the drivers and it did nothing to fix or even improve this issue. What's worse is it took me an hour to even locate those drivers, because the ALPS website is USELESS. Synaptics was so much nicer, I had it on a previous gateway, and the drivers were easy to update. This was the main thing I hate about this laptop.
I also can't tell if this is because the touchpad gets hot or if the ALPS way of doing things is just buggy.
Getting a wireless mouse isn't too bad, but the fact is I shouldn't have to. If i had known this touchpad would be such a pain I NEVER would have purchased this laptop.
I found out a few days ago this also doesn't have integrated bluetooth. I bought headphones the other day just to find I couldn't pair it with this laptop. I thought I could because the bluetooth symbol located above the keyboard would make one believe that it would have it.
This laptop does have a few pluses, such as a decent processor and it looks nice. Plenty of USB ports.
Also i do like the fact that the headphones jack is on the side, my old laptop had it in the front and the headphones would get bent at the base.
320GB hard drive is nice and there is room for a second hard drive so there is always room for more space.
Card reader and HDMI port are great.
Windows 7 64bit.. I have had some issues with. I have windows 7 32bit on my old laptop now and I have to say the 32bit seems to be less buggy.
This laptop also came with volume buttons above the keyboard, this was essential for me because my previous laptop had a slider. It is very handy when you don't want to press fn+ < or > to tune the sound.
The right hand number pad is also a plus because I am no longer reaching to put in any numerical keys.
The screen is nice, clean, and bright.
Webcam is always a plus, It also has a label off to the right of the camera where the microphone is located.
Overall this laptop is very nice but the touchpad can be very, VERY, annoying at times. There are also products to plug in that will allow for bluetooth to be plugged in. If you can find one with Synaptics I would HIGHLY recommend buying that instead.
